Cherie and this blog

All photos seen here have come from my cellphone camera. I use an LG VX8300 with a 1.3 megapixel camera at 1280 x 960 resolution. Nothing too fancy, but it does an excellent job and allows me to share my view on the world. Enjoy!

Moving out of the house

Friday, September 07, 2007

It's a pretty exciting day around here. We have made the decision to move charssi and glutenada out of our home. Currently, our house is used for storing all the packaging and shipping materials and most of our guest room and all of our family are filled with shelving units and boxes of items (labels, spoons, boxes, bags, etc). I'm tired of it.

So, we started the search for an office space we could use as an off-site shipping and storage facility - and we found one just a few miles from our home. It's centrally located to both the USPS and FedEx as well as our house and the commercial kitchen we use. We're signing the lease on Monday and then we can start moving stuff out of our house and into our office. How thrilling is that?!

I get my family room back and our guest room goes back to being just a guest room. No more tripping over boxes of copper lids (for the spoon fudge) or bags of twist ties. No more labels falling off the shelves and rolling across the floor. No more shipping boxes stacked by the fireplace, the front door, and in the hallways. Yay!

I'll get some photos taken once we've officially received the keys and are able to go in. We'll do some before/during/after photos of our move in and setting everything up. I'll post these here, at the Spoon Fudge blog and at the Glutenada blog.

I'm heading down to the Health Dept on Monday to get my paperwork in order for Glutenada and once we're in the new space, I think we'll be ready to launch. Finally - a year after I got this started.

It's very exciting to be at this point. I thought it would never get here.

Fred Thompson for President!

Thursday, September 06, 2007

Ending months of speculation, Fred Thompson announced on the Tonight Show last night that yes, he IS running for President.
Fred08
And our house erupted in cheers ::: cue excited shrieks of joy :::

Now to get us a bumper sticker. We had W stickers custom made for our car - a black oval with a big white W in the middle and we're not taking that off - but we'll move it if need be to make room for a FRED08 sticker. No way we're not showing our support for him!

I'm so excited to finally have someone running I can stand behind 100%. Here's hoping that he makes it all the way!

Here is the bumper sticker we're getting...

Carpal Tunnel anyone?

Monday, September 03, 2007

Apparently having poor posture and abysmal typing methods can cause one to develop carpal tunnel. Who would have thought?

After yet another bout of an aching wrist (this is he 4th time this year) it finally occurred to me that something was actually wrong with my wrist. Something more than just an aching wrist. It's not normal to have a sprained wrist multiple times yearly when you've not done anything to injure it. So today, I did some research. I have the classic symptoms of CT. Including numb and tingling hands at night (that I thought was due to poor circulation or laying weird in bed), radiating pain up and down my arm, numb digits, and etc. Harumph.

Without insurance, there is no way I'm running to the Dr for his one. They'd just tell me to improve my posture and typing and wear a brace. So, I skipped all that and after a few tries, finally found a CVS that had the rigid braces for wrists. Total pain, literally. It's VERY difficult to type with this thing on. Going to take some getting used to. And it greatly curtails my activities and range of motion.

But, I'd like to keep the use of my wrists well into my old age so there is no time like the present to start trying to improve the situation. And so, for now, it means working with this blasted brace on.

Now I wish I'd learned to type normally. I think that has a great deal to do with where I'm at now!
