bird on a wire

Or, birds on a feeder. Whatever the case may be, here are some backyard visitors. There is something so heartwarming about putting out feeders and watching the birds discover the scrumptious seeds set out for them. These little beauties found the feeders the other day and have been back repeatedly for the all-you-cat-eat seed buffet.
Enjoy!

water. mud. buckled road
Monday, September 08, 2008
Front Street in Port Angeles experienced a bit of excitement yesterday when a water main broke and did some spectacular damage to the roadway.
It was as if a giant bubble had been blown beneath the surface, causing ripples and buckling and actually moving the road surface away from the side of the road. I've never seen anything like this before.

It's hard to see, but the buckles in the road are at least 1+ feet in height and depth. Amazing. You can see where the road surface actually pulled away from the curb.

The mud and water rushed out in such force that it flooded the street and went over the sidewalks and into the parking lots on either side of the street.
